I have been reading "Dateable: Are You? Are They?". It is a very well written Christian book that shows young teens the correct way to date. The correct and incorrect things to do and say, and even purity until marriage, which I feel VERY strongly about. I found the book very nice, and even though I don't see the need for a serious boyfriend at this time of my life, I still found it awesome and recommend it to EVERYONE. One of the things the book talks about is purity and ways you can show it to your family, friends, and God! One of the things the girls section examples is dressing your age. Real guys don't want a girlfriend who wears really short shirts and pants or tight clothes. You should wear clothes that fit you properly, not to tight or short, but not too loose and big either. Another thing is, to write down your proclamation of purity down in your journal or online blog. That is what I am doing. I am going to make a list of what I will and will not do until I am married.
Won't do!
1. I will not have any part in any sexual activities.
2. I will not kiss at all.
3. I will not make out.
4. I will NOT compromise, anything my boyfriend allows that I don't will NOT happen.
Will do!
1. I will hold hands, but only after I have gotten to know my boyfriend well.
2. I will hug, but also only after I have gotten to know my boyfriend well.
Now, I will commit myself to God!
God, I commit myself to staying pure until I get married. I will NOT for any reason do anything on my won't do list and will not even think about it. I will however do what is on my will do list, but only after I feel you think it is the appropriate time to do so.
Now, I hope that you can do the same thing I have. Your lists might be different, but I hope not.
